The flat plan overview screen is accessed by clicking on the issue from the centre of the Dashboard (Home screen) or the Publications screen.

On the left sidebar, the Navigation Menu and the Actions Menu are displayed. You can hide or display the sidebar menu by clicking the three-bar toggle icon, top left of the screen.

The Navigation Menu
The Navigation Menu found on the left sidebar of the Flat Plan Overview links to the following screens - more detail on each section is given below:
- Flat Plan Overview - Displays a condensed view of the flat plan.
- Manage Adverts – Displays the artwork of the booked adverts for the issue.
- Manage Content – Displays the artwork of the booked content for the issue.
- Quick Layout - Provides an overview of all the content & adverts on the flat plan and the main settings of the layout for each page.
- Advertisers Index – Contains the settings to create an advertiser index using AutoPublish and set it directly on the flat plan.
- Content Index – Contains the settings to create a content index.
- History – A record of changes made on the flat plan.
Flat plan overview
The flat plan overview displays a condensed view of the flat plan.The colours on the flat plan correspond to the artwork status of the adverts and content placed on the pages:
- Green: Advert is ready
- Light green: Content is ready
- Amber: Advert awaiting action from a customer
- Light amber: Content awaiting action from a customer
- Pink: Advert not ready
- Light pink: Content not ready
- Grey: Page partly filled
- Other colours: you may see other colours if you have set artwork statuses with your own custom colours.
If you hover over one of the pages, a pop-up of the page will appear displaying the uploaded artwork.

Manage adverts and manage content lists
To access from the flat plan overview screen > Click Manage Adverts in the navigation sidebar menu.
You will see a list of all your advert bookings for the issue you are working on. Similarly, if you click on Manage Content, you will see a list of all your content bookings.
The list is colour-coded by the artwork status, so you can see at a glance which bookings are complete (green tick) and which are not (red X). If the booking has been set on the flat plan, you will see the page number in the Page column.

Up/down arrows in header column - Clicking the up-and-down icon at the top of each column, you can sort the list by each of the column fields.
Search box - Use the search box to find a particular company, or to find all the bookings assigned to one of your users.
Company - Clicking on a company name will take you to the bookings for that company.
Title - Clicking on the booking title will take you to the artwork details for the booking, where you can update the status, upload artwork, check which publication and issues the artwork is being used in, add notes, assign the artwork to a user and email.

Quick layout screen
Provides an overview of all the content & adverts on the flat plan and the main settings of the layout for each page.
To access from the flat plan overview screen > Click Quick Layout in the navigation sidebar. The video above provides an overview of the screen & the settings.

The advertiser index
To access from the flat plan overview screen > Click Adverts Index in the navigation sidebar menu.
This screen provides the settings to create an Advertiser Index and set it directly on the flat plan.

Content index

History
To access from the flat plan overview screen > Click History in the navigation sidebar menu.
From here you can find a time and date history of your team’s actions placing and moving artwork on the flat plan .

The Actions Menu
The Actions menu found on the left sidebar of the Flat Plan consists of white buttons giving you the following options:
- View Flat Plan – takes you directly to the Flat Plan.
- AutoPublish Options - opens AutoPublish Options which contains settings to create print file, and digital flipbook.
- Add/Remove Pages - from here you can add and remove pages from the issue you're working on.
- Place Adverts - from here you can copy the previous flat plan.
- Flatplan Notes - from here you can add notes to the flat plan.

View flat plan
To access the flat plan from the flat plan overview screen > Click View Flat Plan in the actions sidebar menu.
This will take you directly to the main flat plan screen.
Auto publish options
To access from the flat plan overview screen > Click Auto Publish Options in the actions sidebar menu.

Add/Remove pages
To access from the flat plan overview screen > Click Add/Remove Pages in the actions sidebar menu.
To Add Pages:
Pages are adding in pairs by dragging the yellow new pages icon down to the position in the flat plan you want them.


Click the green “Save Changes” button.
TIP: Your designated centre pages may move when you add or remove pages, so it's recommended that you remove the pages in pairs before and after the centre pages if artwork is already assigned to the centre pages.
NOTE: You may see a warning that the publication is unprintable unless the number of pages is a multiple of 4 (not applicable to digital publications), add two more pages to resolve this.
Place adverts - (copy previous flat plan)
To access from the flat plan overview screen > Click Place Adverts in the actions sidebar menu.
If you wish to start the flat plan for a new issue by duplicating the flat plan from the previous issue of the publication, MagManager lets you do this using the 'Place Adverts' function.

As soon as you click Place Adverts, the pop-up 'Duplicate a Previous Issue' appears. MagManager will work out the best match to replicate - if you wish to go ahead, click 'Place Adverts'. The adverts from the previous issue, which are booked into the current issue, will be place on the same page if it's available.

Flat plan notes
To access from the flat plan overview screen > Click Flat Plan Notes in the actions sidebar menu.
This allows you to add notes directly to the flat plan.

Manage sections
To access from the flat plan overview screen > Click Shared Sections in the actions sidebar menu.
This option will only be visible if you have Shared Sections switched on.
Shared sections can be used if you publish multiple magazines and duplicate the same adverts & content across a section of pages. Example - you publish two 64 pages magazines with a shared section of 32 pages across both magazines.
