Introduction to issue themes

You may wish to have a special theme (or more than one) for a particular issue. Examples might include ‘Christmas’, ‘Weddings’ or ‘Education’.

Setting up themes in MagManager helps you to plan. It also helps with your renewals, as MagManager can identify your clients who booked the last time you ran the same theme.

1. Setting up issue themes

Step 1 - Go to the main Settings page.

Step 2 - Under Publications & Bookings > Select Issue Themes.

Step 3 - Click the green Add Theme button to create a new theme.

Step 4 - Add the Name of your theme.

Step 5 - The Enabled tick box should be checked.

Step 6 - Click Save.

2. Assigning a theme to an issue

The themes are added to each issue of the publication.

Step 1 - Go to the main Settings page.

Step 2 - Under Publications & Bookings > Select Publications.

Step 3 - Select the publication name you wish to add the themes to.

TIP: You could search for all December issues and set all of them, past and future, with the issue theme ‘Christmas’. This will help with your Christmas renewals.

3. Using issue themes in renewals

You can search for renewal bookings based on the issue theme.

Step 1 - Click Renewals on the top navigation bar

Step 2 - When you have a list of potential renewals,  filter the list by Score

Step 3 - Select the 17 from the drop-down list to identify "Booked in Previous Themed issue, NOT in this issue - No Future bookings.

Step 4 - Select 16 to identify "Booked in Previous Themed issue, NOT in this issue - Has Future Bookings".

Step 5 - Type ‘themed’ in the search box. This will locate renewals which are "Booked in Previous Themed issue, NOT in this issue".

NOTE: You can only search for renewals by issue theme if the issue theme has been previously used before now.

4. Adding a theme to a booking

You can add details of the theme to a booking.

Step 1 - To do that choose a theme from the drop-down menu when adding a new booking.
