Where ad blocker problems can occur
Ad blockers, web browser extensions, security apps & VPNs can sometimes cause issues in the following places in MagManager, below are some examples:
1 - When placing artwork on the flatplan
Also make sure your page resolution is at 100%. In Google Chrome, click the three dots top right, and you'll see a zoom setting. This must be 100%. See notes on Invalid Zoom Level.
2 - When trying to upload artwork
3 - When adding a new advert to a booking
You'll find that the pink advert box does not appear. The example below on the left is how it should appear, and the right shows the blank space, which is how it appears when ad blockers stop the data appearing.

4 - On the Artwork screen
no client data lines will be displayed, only the 'showing' and 'entries' number will be displayed at the bottom.

5 - Digital flipbook
When clicking the Preview button, the flipbook does not open up in a new tab. Depending on your web browser you may see a little blocked icon appear to the far right of the browser address bar, which you can click on to reset.
6 - Open preview with trim
When you select 'preview with trim' from the flatplan layout screen and Auto Publish. Ad blockers can prevent the file opening on screen in a new tab.
7 - The error message 'Please correct the errors in your booking'.
The message appears at the top of the screen, when trying to save a new booking or update an existing booking.

8 - The report does not open in a new tab
When printing from the clients and bookings screen using the print icon. Instead of opening the report in a new tab, it displays 'about:blank' in the address bar.
9 - On certain tabs of the clients screen
No client data lines will be displayed, only the 'showing' and 'entries' number will be displayed at the bottom.

Answer:
To resolve all the issues mentioned above ensure no ad blockers are operating when you are using MagManager.
The notes below explain the process for the Chrome web browser, it will be similar for other browsers.
After each step, reload the webpage, press Ctrl +F5 and see if it resolves the issue.
NOTE: Do not use Firefox web browser with MagManager as it does not support the advanced feature we use.
It's generally a device / browser specific problem. To isolate the issue try opening MagManager using a different web browser and see if that make any difference.
Generally if it works fine using the other browser, the issue is with the web browser and it's extensions.
If you still have a problem with the other browser, then it's more likely to be an issue with the PC security or VPN..
How to solve the ad blocker problem
1 Check for ad blockers
Open Chrome web browser > Open MagManager on the page you have a problem with and click on the 'View Site Information' icon next to the URL > Select Site settings.

Make sure Pop-Ups & Redirects and Intrusive Ads are allowed for this site (it doesn’t affect other sites)

After doing this, reload the webpage and see if it resolves the issue. If not reboot the computer and check again.
2 - Clear the cache on Google Chrome
Step 1: Launch Google Chrome > Click the Chrome menu icon represented by three horizontal dots, top-right corner of screen > Click Settings near the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Step 2: Click the link for Privacy and Security in the left sidebar > Select Delete browsing data.

Step 3: From the Basic tab > Set Time range as All Time > Check the box for Cached Images and Files > Click Delete Data.

3 - Check your version of Chrome
How to find which version of Google Chrome you have, and update it
- Open Google Chrome.
- Clikc the three dots in the uppper-right corner of the window.
- Hover your cursor over ‘Help.'
- Click ‘About Google Chrome.’

If it needs updating it will do this automatically - once complete click 'Relaunch'.
4 - Check for browser extensions
If allowing pop ups as described above doesn't solve the issue, you will also need to check for browser extensions that include ad-blockers. On Chrome browser, click on the three vertical dots at the top-right of the browser.

Next click on Extensions then Manage Extensions.
This will display a list of the chrome extensions you have installed - check to see if you have any ad-blocker extensions.
One example is AdBlock which looks like this, you'll want to turn this off, by clicking the toggle switch bottom right:

5 - Turn off ALL browser extensions
If you have a number of browser extension you may have to turn them off and turn them back on one by one to find out which one is causing the problem.
Other extensions that have caused issues for some users:
Adobe Acrobat PDF Edit Convert Sign Tool
Malwarebytes Browser Guard
Honey - which is a voucher code finder
- Try turning these off
6 - Check your PC security settings
You may also need to check the settings of your PC security set up, as anti-virus software can also act as ad-blockers and usually updates in the background without your knowledge. You may need to turn this off or add magmanager.co.uk as an allowed website within the app settings.
7 - Check your VPN settings
If you use a VPN such as NordVPN you may also need to check the settings, as it can also act as an ad blocker.
The steps below worked for a user, who shared them with us as a reference:
- Open NordVPN
- Click the Settings icon (top right)
- Go to “Threat Protection” or “Threat Protection Lite”
- Turn OFF:
- Web Protection
- Ad & Tracker Blocker
- Threat Protection
Then:
- Go to Settings → Connection
- Find “VPN Protocol”
- Change it from “NordLynx” to “OpenVPN (UDP)”
After changing the settings:
- Disconnect and reconnect the VPN
- Refresh the Mag Manager page fully by pressing Ctrl + F5 or closing the browser and reopening it
If it’s still not working after that, try:
- Switching to OpenVPN (TCP) instead of OpenVPN(UDP)
- Temporarily disconnecting NordVPN completely
